We heat treat using several time tested methods include
clay tempering which produces a Hamon line, charcoal forge, and a
digital kiln depending on the use and style of blade.
I collect some of my Arizona Mountain
Mahogany and Manzanita wood in the hills of southern arizona. The wood
is beutiful, hard, just a nice native wood. It takes a lot of wood to
get just a fiew pices for handles but I think it is well worth the
W2 carbon steel blade clay tempered for a RC hardness of 58-59. We use
a lot of Arizona Mountin Mahogany for handles. The sheath we make for
most of our knives is a southern comfort style you can slide into your
waist band or add a frog for belt loops etc.
Moapa is a 6 1/2 inch clip blade Bowie of 1095 steel differentially

EDC or Every Day Carry neck knife of 1095 steel, 2 1/2 inch blade is

This Companero 5 1/2 has a pretty plain black walnut handle with a clay tempered 1095 blade and is bead blasted French Gray.
The scabbard is a kydex souther comfort.
This is a Sadler's Kiridashi in 1095 with mountain mahogany wood
handle. This knife is made special for saddle makers and leather
workers. It is good for trimming in the tiniest of corners to hand
cutting a square bevel on an edge. THe handle is of a smaller size
which I find conducive to making finer cuts and not hamfisting the
